Dr. Evangeline S. Pianfetti (Vanna) is faculty in the Department of Educational Psychology, College of Education at the University of Illinois. She was formerly the Assistant Dean for Learning Technologies where she put into place several initiative including the Mobile Learning Initiative in which faculty were provided with mobile resources necessary to meet the needs and expectations of today’s college students. Additionally, she put forth an 1:1 Student Laptop Initiative which is currently underway. She has also received funding for the redesign of learning spaces within the College of Education so that the learning environments may help promote not only collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving, but also innovation and creativity. Vanna work as the principle investigator for the I-LLINI Partnerships grant helped to improve middle school student performances in core content area through the meaningful integration of technology. Vanna is a Smithsonian Laureate for classroom innovation in technology and a Gold Award winner in the ThinkQuest for Tomorrow’s Teachers competition for a technology enriched curriculum she designed with teachers from Urbana Middle School in Urbana, Illinois.
Dr. Evangeline S. Pianfetti is currently faculty within the Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education at the University of Illinois. Formely, she was the Assistant Dean of Learning Technologies and the Director of the Office of Educational Technology (OET). Her research interests include how technologies and digital media are changing the way we learn, how we learn, and where we learn. Specifically, she looks at how mobile learning and devices impact learning spaces, delivery of content, and design of curriculum. She has extensive experience in providing professional development to P12 educators and higher education faculty, and administering and innovating with online learning environments. For over 10 years, she has helped coordinate a statewide institute for educators. This institute is a nationally recognized model for professional development by the Microsoft Corporation. Under her leadership, OET was recognized and awarded Innovative Teacher of the Year by Association for Colleges of Teacher Education and Microsoft. Evangeline is also a Smithsonian Laureate for classroom innovation in technology and a Gold Award winner in the thinkQuest for Tomorrow’s Teachers competition for “ScienceNet: Project-base physical science”
